Daughter Day's-22 sep-Poster design

Whether she admires him or can’t stand him, a girl’s relationship with her father is always the lynchpin of her personal life. The dynamic between a father and daughter is a complex one, and all the more so given that it has perhaps been explored less than other relationships.

To work out what kind of father/daughter relationship you have answer the following questions as honestly as possible.

1. Your father is talking about you to one of his friends. What do you imagine he says?
 She's my little princess
She's a chip off the old block
 She's an ungrateful so-and-so
She doesn't really need me anymore

2. Your dad calls and suggests going out for a meal this evening:
You dress up so that he will be proud to be seen with you
You can't just drop everything for him
You wonder what's got into him
You wonder what surprise he'll have up his sleeve

3. Your nickname for him could be:
 Frankenstein
 Superman
 Grumpy
 Inspector Gadget

4. You arrive at your parents' one day to find them in the middle of an argument. You think:
Your dad must be getting an ear bashing
Your mum doesn't know how lucky she is to have your dad
Your dad is being unreasonable again
 It's none of your business

5. Your father criticises you for something:
You try to win back his respect
 Pot, kettle, black
 You pretend not to hear
You try and soften him up with a winning smile

6. What is your opinion of fathers who leave their children?
They got themselves into a complicated situation
 They’re worthless
 They’re weak
 They’re cowards

7. What happens when your new partner meets your dad?
You don't expect much from your dad, to be honest
You go on about how much your new partner loves you
You watch your dad closely to see if he approves
You and your dad exchange knowing glances

8. The best present your dad could ever give you would be:
To get out of your life
To always be there for you
To allow you to get to know him better
To stop taking himself so seriously

9. What do you think of when you hear the word ‘father'?
 Strength
 Laughter
 Bitterness
 Anger

10. If you had children you would hope that their father would be:
 Fiercely attached to them
Not too much of a conformist
 Calm and reassuring
 Affectionate
